Burren Smokehouse in County Clare, Ireland, was sent a warning letter July 30 by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) after the processors was found to have committed "serious violations" of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), reports Food Safety News.

The FDA informed Managing Director Birgitta Hedin Curin that Burren Smokehouse's hot and cold smoked salmon, trout, and mackerel products have been prepared, packed, or held under conditions whereby they may have been rendered injurious to health.

Lat year the producer was recognized as Ireland's "Green Seafood Business of the Year" at the annual Green Awards.
