The interim CEO of embattled Icelandic fisheries giant Samherji is reassuring employees that there is no basis for money laundering allegations against the company.

“The fact that Samherji never owned Cape Cod FS means that there is no basis for the money laundering allegations related to payments to the company,” said Bjorgolfur Johannsson in a letter to coworkers.

The development comes as Samherji attempts to seize the initiative in the wake of a cash-for-quotas scandal related to its Namibian operations that has engulfed the company over the past three weeks.
