Surimi production at the five key production factories in Japan's Hokkaido region was up 48 percent in October compared to the same month last year, according to the National Surimi Association.
Overall volume rose to 1,277 metric tons in October, bringing year to date volumes to over 17,900 metric tons, a rise of 32 percent over last year.
Overall inventory for member companies was reported at 2,441 metric tons -- two times higher than at the same period last year.
