Iceland's largest seafood processor, HB Grandi, said it will move forward with its plan to cease processing groundfish at its Akranes facility, after a meeting with trade unions and employees representatives Thursday.

During the meeting, group representatives laid out the plans, and HB Grandi said the talks have benefited both sides.

However, the "negotiations have not changed HB Grandi's plans to combine the groundfish processing operations in Akranes with the groundfish processing operations in Reykjavik" on Sept. 1.

Eighty-six of the 270 staff employed at Akranes will receive their notice next month.
