With Norwegian Atlantic salmon prices hitting record highs in the last couple of week, salmon processors are feeling the strain and calling for more stability in the market.

Most are expecting the high prices to remain at least throughout May with hopes they will start to slide back down from June.

“The reaction from processors is that it is impossible to make money or build up a stock,” Peter Bamberger, chairman of the Danish Seafood Association, told IntraFish.

Nevertheless, they need to deliver what is required for their customers, buy what they need and hope for best.
