East Coast Seafood will close its Garbo lobster facility in Groton, Connecticut, a company official told IntraFish.

The company shipped live lobsters for its wholesale business from the lobster packing plant.

US seafood suppliers have complained bitterly about the impact of tariffs imposed by Chinese authorities in retaliation to those levied by the Trump White House.

"Like a lot of other lobster companies we were directly affected by the tariffs," the official said.

The shutdown is slated for Jan 17.
