Scandic Salmon, a salmon processor based in Denmark, is currently expanding operations despite struggling with raw material price volatility in the first half of 2018, Manager Nick Jensen told IntraFish. They source their salmon from Norway.

"Raw material prices were going up and down like crazy. It actually doesn’t matter if the price is seven or eight euros, you can still sell. But you cannot sell when it’s going up one or two euros a week."

Scandic Salmon reported a net profit of nearly NOK 7 million (€729,918/$818,342) in 2017, but only NOK 4 million (€417,096/$467,624) in 2018, in part because of early investments and development.
