Maine-based Bristol Seafood on Wednesday announced it's launching into IQF wild Atlantic haddock and cod fillets, loins and portions processed in its home state, as a response to increasing customer demand for closer-to-home seafood.

Bristol Seafood CEO Peter Handy told IntraFish the demand is spurred not only by market interest in moving away from foreign-processed seafood, but also because of the US-China trade war tariffs.

"People are looking for alternatives," he said, noting that for some of his customers, it has played into their decision to seek new options.
