Brazilian seafood exports to the EU could restart in the second half of 2019, according to processing industry trade body ABIPESCA, after 16 months of a self-imposed ban following criticism by EU inspectors.

The EU formalized the ban in July 2018, but the Brazilian government has now submitted a third plan of action to European officials with the aim of restarting exports.

With no discussions scheduled between EU officials and Brazilian processors, in all likelihood any talks that do take place will be of an informal nature on the sidelines of the Brussels Seafood Show next month.
