Kjell Inge Rokke-owned Aker BioMarine has appealed a recent court ruling that found the group did not gain ownership of a krill processing patent when it acquired the vessel Juvel from bankrupt competitor Emerald Fisheries.

Stig Remoy, the owner of Emerald and krill competitor Rimfrost, won the case, allowing his company to retain the patent.

Aker claimed it owned the patents, had rights to use them, and additionally sought compensation as part of a previous dispute with Norwegian bank Nordea and government-backed Innovation Norway.
