TOSAKATSUO SUISAN has reportedly grown 10 times in size since arriving at Yaizu port 10 years ago, and moved into a new factory in February this year.
Hiroyuki Myojin started Tosakatsuo Suisan 25 years ago in his native prefecture of Kochi, where fishermen have caught skipjack using pole and line for 300 years.
His grandfather was a pole and line fisherman, as was his father. Before moving into the processing side of the business, he worked on his father’s boat.
He moved the company to Yaizu because it is the biggest port in Japan for skipjack tuna.
