French supermarket retailers Intermarche and Cora have recalled batches of smoked salmon slices after traces of listeria were detected.

The French government website Rappel Conso originally reported that Intermarche's salmon was produced by southwest France-based processor Mericq but has since removed the company's name in a Feb. 11 update.

"This mistake is really bad for our brand, and we have nothing to do with this food recall," a Mericq company spokesperson said in an email notifying IntraFish of the update.
