UK salmon smoker Bleiker’s Smokehouse entered administration on April 29 following the loss of a significant contract with a major retailer, specialist business advisory firm FRP confirmed to IntraFish.

Trading as Bleiker’s Smokehouse, the business supplied a range of salmon products to major UK supermarkets, as well as independent delis and farm shops. It operated out of a site in North Yorkshire, and employed 86 staff.

After the loss of the contract, the business began a consultation with its employees, and the business and assets were marketed for sale, but a buyer could not be found, and the company eventually went insolvent.
