One employee working with Trident Seafoods in Petersburg, Alaska, tested positive for COVID-19 on June 18, according to Petersburg Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
The employee was not showing any symptoms of the virus but was identified through a testing program at Trident.
As part of the company's mitigation plans to curb the spread, all workers traveling to Petersburg were tested prior to arriving to the town, where they have been quarantined at a local hotel. Trident's protocol requires the workers are monitored, screened twice daily and re-tested at the end of their quarantine. If workers test negative on day 14 of their quarantine, they are allowed to work.*
The detection of the case shows Trident Seafood's plan is working effectively, according to EOC.
