Thai Union-owned seafood processor MerAlliance completed a 1,200-square-meter expansion of its Quimper facility in Brittany, northern France on Sept. 27.

The company launched the renovation project in July 2019 for the factory, which produces smoked fish for private labels and the Petit Navire brand.

The plan falls within the group's corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy to improve its carbon footprint.

The renovation work includes an upgraded cold facility that consumes six times less ammonia than the previous one, and saves 8,000-cubic-meters of water annually.
