Ecuadorian shrimp industry officials say the coronavirus pandemic could spark job losses among shrimp packing companies as Ecuador battles to overturn an export ban on three of its shrimp producers after traces of COVID-19 were found on their packaging.

The second crisis comes just as the country's shrimp processors resumed full capacity operations after being forced to cut back production as the coronavirus pandemic began to sweep through South America.

"We are operating at full capacity," Jose Antonio Camposono, president of shrimp producers trade body the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA), told IntraFish.
