After nearly four years developing the site, Samherji kicked off production Aug. 14 at its new 9,000 square-meter facility in Dalvik, Iceland.

The company spent a total of ISK 6 billion (€37 million/$43.8 million) on the facility, of which half went into equipment and software.

"In this building, we are doing something that has never been done before, as we are going further in automation, which aims, among other things, to ease the work of staff," Samherji co-CEO Thorsteinn Mar Baldvinsson said.
