Whitefish harvesting giant Russian Fishery Company (RFC) increased its frozen-at-sea (FAS) pollock production 15 percent in the first quarter of 2021 as its vessel modernization program starts to bear fruit.

RFC took a course towards increasing its at-sea processing capabilities in 2014, when some of the company's vessels were modernized and equipped with processing factories.

"Thanks to deep processing at sea, we can flexibly respond to market challenges, in particular those related to the restriction of access to the Chinese market, which the industry is facing today," said Viktor Litvinenko, general director of the Russian Fishery Company.
