Shareholders in Spanish fishing, aquaculture and seafood processing giant Nueva Pescanova will vote on a proposed €70 million ($73.9 million) capital injection by majority shareholder Abanca later this month, a company official confirmed.

The capital injection will be used to bolster the company's strategic plan through 2025. A meeting to conduct the vote is scheduled for Jan. 16.

Whether or not the move is approved, Spanish bank Abanca will retain its 97 percent stake in of Nueva Pescanova.
