French seafood group Cite Marine, a subsidiary of Japanese giant Nippon Suisan Kaisha (Nissui), plans to open a new plant in northern France to target the German and Benelux markets.

Located in Saint-Quentin, less than 100 kilomewters from the Belgian border, the new 12,000-square-meter factory will be operational in 2023 and is expected to cost €32 million ($32.5 million).

Once fully operational, the plant will boost the company’s production capacity as much as 20 percent, helping the group target the lucrative German, Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg) and Spanish markets, according to Nissui's latest report.
