New Zealand seafood giant Sealord seeking housing in 'acute shortage' as visas finally handed out for factory workers

A lack of workers during its recent hoki season meant a $3 million loss for the company. Now it has access to workers but is struggling to accommodate them.

Ricky Smith and Sage Toilalo, from Samoa are the first two workers to join Sealord’s wetfish factory as part of the New Zealand government’s overseas seafood process worker scheme. The remaining workers from Samoa join Sealord in January.
