On Wednesday, Leroy Seafood announced a NOK 170 million (€17.4 million/$19.3 million) upgrade of its Batsfjorn, northern Norway whitefish plant, one of the largest filleting factories in the country.

It is two years since a disappointed fishing sector was finally informed that Leroy Seafoods' plans to build a new whitefish factory in Batsfjord were canceled because the investment became too large.

But renovation of the old plant, the oldest part of which was built in the 1950s, will secure Leroy the largest private workplace in the municipality and one of the largest in eastern Finnmark.
