Thai Union subsidiary Europeenne De La Mer, a producer of salmon and smoked fish for the European and French markets, announced it is closing its processing plant in Dabrowa Chelminska, near Bydgoszcz, in Poland.
The plant continues to see heavy losses due to "highly challenging market conditions" and a "lack of competitiveness with peers," said the group on Oct.1.
The company said its employees were its primary consideration in the difficult situation.
