The CEO of Massachusetts-based seafood supplier Slade Gorton predicts the war in Ukraine will change seafood processing operations around the world, and further shift trade flows already upended during the COVID pandemic.

"Eastern Europe is an incredible processing center and there’s a lot of concerns," CEO Kim Gorton said at the IntraFish Seafood Leadership Breakfast in Boston on March 14.

The war is only the latest crisis prompting the seafood industry to reassess where processing needs to shift in order to maintain capacity, Gorton said, and she estimates other countries could emerge as processing hubs in both the short and long term.
