UK-based multinational processing giant Hilton Food Group has signed a long-term supply agreement with the Canadian operations of retail giant Walmart.
As part of the deal, Hilton Foods will open a new manufacturing facility in eastern Canada to supply Walmart’s supercentres with a range of protein products, starting with beef, lamb, pork and seafood before moving into value-added products.
While a spokesperson told IntraFish the level of detail on what seafood products and in what volumes hadn't yet been agreed, she said the new facility would purely service Walmart and will provide robotized store order picking into Walmart’s distribution centers to fill "increasing consumer demand."
