Global fishmeal market remains in balance but fish oil under pressure as Peru season ends

The harvesting of 99 percent of a 2.047 million-metric-ton anchovy quota for the second season in Peru's north-central fishing grounds is expected to do little to upset the stability currently seen in global fishmeal markets.

The season, which began Nov. 22, ended Jan. 15 with just 38,000 metric tons or 1 percent of quota not landed, an official from Peru's National Fisheries Society (SNP) told IntraFish in an update Jan.
