Chile's environmental authority (SMA) has told salmon farmers in the Los Lagos, Aysen and Magallanes regions to draw up contingency plans to enable them to meet environmental obligations as the coronavirus health crisis threatens to push the country into lock down.
Officials activated a protocol ordering producers to put plans in place at collection centers, salmon grow-out facilities, fish farms, transfer stations and processing plants in the event that government regulators are unable to audit activities.
