Singapore-based Umami Bioworks plans to scale up to begin commercializing cell-cultivated seafood products in 2024.

This comes after Umami last week signed a deal to supply technology and expertise to Japanese seafood giant Maruha Nichiro aimed at bringing cell-cultivated products to market.

The companies intend to speed up the development of cell-cultivated seafood technology.

Umami already had a similar contract with a Malaysian firm, which like Maruha, will build commercial facilities under Umami's licensing and supply business model at cheaper rates of capital than those available to Umami.
