Nomad Foods, the world's largest branded frozen fish supplier and parent of the Birds Eye, Iglo and Findus brands, named Denmark-based Espersen, one of the world's largest whitefish processors, as its 2021 supplier of the year.

Espersen was chosen from more than 1,000 Nomad suppliers.

“With all the commitment and efforts from the worldwide Espersen organization, we are extremely proud of this award,” said the company.

Espersen has partnered with Birds Eye and Nomad for more than 25 years, and is “looking forward to many more years,” it said.

The processor, which sources from several countries and sells to clients in more than 40 countries, including McDonald's restaurants -- a contract the group has held for decades -- has facilities in Denmark, Poland, Lithuania and Russia.

The company's global footprint has given the group diversity in its supply, but also exposed it to the current global trade issues.
