Leading Chilean salmon producer AquaChile has signed a lease deal allowing it to use Cermaq's Ancud plant during the coho season.

The six-month leasing agreement runs from Oct. 1 until March 31, 2021.

Cermaq announced it was shuttering the Ancud plant on Chiloe island in April as part of a restructuring process.

The move is expected to provide 250 jobs during the period. AquaChile is looking to hire staff who worked at the plant until its closure.
