San Diego-based fresh and frozen supplier Lotus Seafood is expecting significant growth this year in its retail business in the United States and from its export business to Mexico and Colombia.
“We have just started to sell shrimp into retail so we see a lot of increase in sales,” Lotus Seafood COO Sergey Nikolenko told IntraFish.
“At the same time we saw prices getting higher after June, so it’s about 20 to 30 cents higher than it was.”
This comes against the background of conflicting reports of a lower first season crop for leading producer nation India, from where Lotus ships in vannamei shrimp, in addition to Indonesia and China.
