Norwegian cod prices remain at high levels as the summer rolls on, and a continued shortfall in supply threatens to keep pushing them higher.

According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, prices for frozen cod were NOK 53.70 (€5.40/$5.50) per kilo in week 30 -- 52 percent higher than at the same time last year.

For the past few months, average prices have been hovering between NOK 53 (€5.30/$5.40) and NOK 56 (€5.60/$5.70) per kilo.

According to the Norwegian Fishermen’s Sales Organization (Norges Rafisklag), average frozen prices for August are currently at NOK 53.77
