Norwegian salmon prices are moving higher, bucking the recent softening trend and confirming the expectations of some in the market that prices would rise before too long.
Before this latest upturn the market picture was unclear, with some sources reporting stable prices and others expecting prices to move higher, helped by lower volumes and Christmas demand.
"Prices have risen quite sharply. We could see the trend starting yesterday," said a producer who is pinning his hopes on improved Christmas orders as retail sales strengthen.
