Russia's pollock harvesters closed out a successful "A" season earlier this month, with stronger catches and firm markets, Russia’s Pollock Catcher Association (PCA) Vice President Alexey Buglak told IntraFish.

Russia officially completed the 2019 “A” season pollock fishery with the closure of the North-Okhotsk subzone on April 10, with a overall harvest of 944,900 metric tons in all fishing zones of the Far East Fishing Basin, up 3 percent from the 2018 "A" season.

Pollock prices were favorable in both the European and the Chinese markets, Buglak said, with frozen-at-sea (FAS) fillet prices to Europe ranging from $3,400-$3,500 (€3,038/€3,127) per metric ton*.
