Prices are soaring: 'It's not just a marathon this summer for lobster, it's a whole sprint'

Prices for Maine lobster rolls have been soaring heading into July, according to several in the industry.

The price of frozen lobster meat from Maine is averaging over $30.00 (€25.16) per pound. But those prices can rise to around $120.00 (€164.00) per pound for fresh product, according to the website Quality Seafood Delivery, which recently surveyed 22 US lobster companies for prices.

"Because demand is very high, so too is pricing," Annie Tselikis, the executive director of the Maine Lobster Dealers’ Association, told IntraFish.
