Norwegian farmed salmon prices are showing signs of cooling after weeks of increases that saw average levels for key sizes reach close to NOK 60 (€6.14/$7.14)/kg.
On Friday, one exporter told IntraFish he was trading at prices between NOK 52-55 (€5.32-€5.63/$6.19-$6.54)/kg, depending on the size.
"The market has calmed down a bit, quite simply. It is possible that people have produced a lot for stock and now do not have greater needs," the exporter said.
Prices have been on a steady run for several weeks, lifted in part as buyers and sellers wrestling with strong demand and persistent logistics issues.
