Prices of Norwegian head on gutted (HOG) farmed salmon were on average 51.5 percent higher in 2016 than average prices a year earlier, according to the annual report for the Nasdaq Salmon Index.
The average price per kilo was NOK 62.68 (€6.60/$7.20) during the year, with a deviation margin of NOK 0.97 (€0.1/$0.11) per kilo, depending on the sources.
To compile the information, Nasdaq gathered information from 10 different exporters during the year, representing between 50-60 percent of Norway’s salmon exports.
Although prices given by the different participants are consistent, they were more volatile in 2016 than they were a year earlier, according to the report.
