Maruha Nichiro has revised prices of some of its retail frozen foods, joining a rising tide of price increases across the seafood industry as costs surge.

Raw material prices are rising against the backdrop of rising global food demand. In addition, due to soaring crude oil prices, the cost of packaging materials and fuel costs continues to be high.

"In such an environment, we have endeavored to maintain the shipping price by improving the efficiency of operations, reviewing raw materials, and improving distribution, but the situation has exceeded the limit of cost absorption," said Maruha Nichiro in a press release Monday.
