Despite reaching their lowest levels in years over the past several weeks, Norwegian farmed salmon spot prices are expected to continue sliding as sellers head into next week.

"Some claim the market is overflowing with salmon from last week, but maybe they are just cutting prices," a source told IntraFish. "My impression is that there are unsold fish and that the price level is lower today compared to last Friday."

The last time the market experienced such a cut in prices was about four years ago, but it is even tougher now with production costs rising, the same source said.
