Norwegian salmon prices have continued to rise, capitalizing on the recent upward trend led by reduced availability.

Last Friday, salmon prices rose to more than NOK 60 (€5.88/7.01) per kilo -- much to the delight of salmon farmers, some of who have sold fish at below production cost recently.

Prices headed into next week are even stronger. One exporter told IntraFish this Friday that he purchased fish for NOK 65 per kilo for 3-6 kilo fish.

Part of the rise is currency related, with the Norwegian krone slumping in recent days, but in general, the price is simply a culmination of low supply and high demand.
