Salmon exporters are in the middle of a perfect storm, with buyers pushing back on prices, leaving huge volumes unsold.

“There is a complete stop in the market -- there is a lot of unsold fish around," an exporter told IntraFish. "The fall in prices this week is the biggest fall I've seen. It is down around NOK 15 (€1.50/$1.70) per kilo."

The short Easter week last week, coupled with what now looks like over-optimistic harvesting, left high volumes on the market, with buyers unwilling to pay price premiums.
