Bleiker’s Smokehouse has appointed Craig Harrison as retail sales director to spearhead UK retail branded and private-label sales of its premium smoked fish brand.

Harrison, who brings 14 years’ experience in the ready-to-eat fish and seafood industry, joins Bleiker’s from The Big Prawn Company, where he was sales director for almost 10 years.

The appointment comes as Bleiker's targets a new demographic of younger, more health-conscious consumers.

“He is highly regarded across the UK retail fish and seafood industry and will bring his considerable experience to bear as we continue to expand our national listings and grow our market share and sales in branded and own label," said Bleiker's Managing Director Charlie Andrew.

The smokehouse is a family business established in 1993 by Jurg Bleiker, a Swiss chef who settled in the Yorkshire Dales. It continues to be owned by the family and run by the next generation.

"I’m looking forward to working with our supermarket, convenience and independent clients to help them optimize the potential of our fast-expanding range,” said Harrison.
