A former executive with the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and seafood giant Young's has joined Sainsbury's, the UK's second largest seafood retailer by sales, as head of aquaculture and fisheries to oversee the group's sustainable seafood sourcing strategy.

David Parker, who in addition to Young's and the MSC, has worked at and advised groups including The Marine Ingredients Organization (IFFO), Blue Ventures, took up the role at Sainsbury's in August, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Parker was head of corporate social responsibility at Young's Seafood until 2018 and later joined the MSC as head of NGO and government relations.
