Shelf-stable seafood company Bumble Bee Seafoods has hired Sebastian Castro-Malaspina as its new vice president of National Grocery Accounts.

Castro-Malaspina has nearly 20 years of experience working across several leading consumer packaged goods (CPG) organizations.

Most recently, Castro-Malaspina spent eight years at Danone North America serving in a variety of sales and category management leadership roles.

Prior to Danone, he held commercial leadership positions at Coty and Church & Dwight, as well market research firm Nielsen.

Castro-Malaspina’s focus will be overseeing sales and driving efficiencies with retailers such as Kroger, Albertsons, Ahold/Delhaize, Publix, HEB, and HyVee.

Bumble Bee’s full line of seafood and specialty protein products are marketed in the United States, Canada and over 50 markets globally under the brands Bumble Bee, Anova, Brunswick, Clover Leaf, Snow’s, Wild Selections and Beach Cliff.

In January 2020, Bumble Bee successfully completed a sale of its assets to long-time partner Taiwan-based FCF Fishery for $928 million (€841.9 million).

The bankrupt seafood canner won court approval earlier in the month to sell itself to FCF Fishery, its main tuna supplier.

The sale came a few months after the iconic seafood brand filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
