Kostantinos Kokkalis, chief product officer at Selonda, has stepped down to take a new part-time consulting role with the company.

Kokkalis has been with Selonda for just over four years.

Kokkalis joined the Greek aquaculture industry in 1990, working with Neptunus. 17 years later he became production director with Dias Aquaculture after the seabass and bream producer bought Neptunus, moving up the ranks to chief product officer in 2013.

After that he served on the boards of several companies, including at consulting company Starfish, a role he still holds, and as a legal administrator for several Greek companies. He joined Selonda in 2016.

In October, Mediterranean seabass and seabream producer Andromeda acquired a majority stake in Selonda and fellow producer Nireus.

The European Commission paved the way for the Greek seabass and seabream mega-merger, after approving the acquisition of farming concessions by smaller Mediterranean producer Diorasis.

The transaction cleared the way for US private equity fund Amerra Capital and UAE-backed investment firm Mubadala to become shareholders in the combined business, after acquiring Andromeda in 2016.
