Salmon industry veteran Pal Tangvik died on Tuesday Dec. 28 after a heart attack at the age of 58, according to Norwegian media outlet Kyst.no.

Tangvik worked in the salmon farming sector since 1989, including more than 25 years with Norwegian salmon producer Leroy.

In 2015, Tangvik joined Scottish Sea Farms as head of freshwater production, where he worked for almost seven years. He managed all of the freshwater production for the company, including six sites.

Scottish Sea Farms' CEO Jim Gallagher sent a message to employees stating that it is with the greatest sadness that their friend and colleague passed away.
