Embattled Chilean salmon producer Nova Austral says a new lawsuit filed against former company directors will have no bearing on its efforts to save the company from the threat of bankruptcy.

Nova Austral has until Aug. 16 to get creditors to agree a plan for the company's reorganization.

On that date, a court is scheduled to make a ruling on the progress of the plan.

"This legal action is not directed against Nova Austral but is part of a conflict between shareholders and bondholders for events unrelated to the current administration of the company," Nova Austral said in a statement.
