The Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) CEO Renate Larsen is leaving the organization after six years in the role.

Earlier this year, IntraFish reported Larsen was investing in kelp farming company Oceanfood, but at the time she said she would continue her daily work with the NSC.

"There is no drama behind this decision," Larsen said on Friday. "I have had six fantastically exciting years in the seafood council. There is a time for everything, and right now it is right for me to do something else."

Larsen has a six months' notice period and will remain in the position until it ends, pending board approval.

The board will now start the process of finding a new CEO.
