Norway-based Andfjord Salmon named Christian Torgersen as operations manager for its land-based facility in Kvalnes, Norway, effective Aug. 3.

Prior to this role, Torgersen worked for Nesset Fiskoppdrett and Flatanger Settefisk as a smokehouse manager, production manager and feed manager.

Andfjord Salmon has a license to grow 10,000 metric tons of salmon, but aims to reach 70,000 metric tons in the near future. It already secured a number of sites to make that possible.

The company recently received NOK 14 million (€1.4 million/$1.6 million) in a grant from Innovation Norway. The award will help the company produce 1,000 metric tons in its first phase of expansion. The company is close to stocking its first fish.

In January, Andfjord Salmon appointed 34-year-old Martin Rasmussen as CEO. The young CEO was poached from an executive role in French-owned Primex Norway, a whitefish processing company.
