Alan Cook has been appointed the new managing director for Mowi's operations in Atlantic Canada.

Cook, who replaces Jamie Gaskill in the role, started his career in salmon farming at Mowi in 1998 as a farm technician.

Cook brings more than 20 years of experience to the role, having taken on leadership positions within the salmon farming and fisheries industries in Canada, Chile, the United States and most recently New Zealand, where he acted as COO of New Zealand King Salmon before joining Mowi.

“I am delighted to have Alan on board. He is a very experienced farmer and I look forward to working with him," said Mowi CEO Ivan Vindheim of Cook's appointment.

Gaskill resigned from the role to spend more time with his young family while focusing on specific projects in the salmon farming and seafood industry, according to Mowi.

New Zealand King Salmon decided to split the COO role after Cook departed last month, appointing Grant Lovell as its new general manager of aquaculture.

Prior to his role with New Zealand King Salmon, Cook served as the vice president of fish for processing equipment manufacturer Marel.
